The work’s perfect mixture of French Romanticism, the sacred musical tradition, and Fauré’s sense of classical finesse, not to mention his ability to craft a beautiful melodic line, have made it the popular piece it is. And of course, it includes two of Fauré’s most famous movements, the Pie Jesu, and the ethereal In Paradisum. Alongside the Fauré, the Chorus will be performing Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms, a short choral work that is dramatic and expressive, sharing a classical sensibility with the Fauré with its echoes of Bach and Mozart through a twentieth-century filter. |

Both studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, sharing a passion for chamber music that extends to jazz, Latin American and European folk and works by contemporary composers. They love performing in a wide variety of venues, including St James’ Piccadilly, Wigmore Hall, the Swaledale Festival, and Bridgewater Hall for Craig Ogden’s Guitar Weekend. In 2019 they were finalists in the Royal Overseas League competition as well as International Guitar Foundation Young Artists. They have been Live Music Now artists and Selected Artists for Making Music for 2020-21 and 2021-22. |
